People around the U.S. rely on POM to provide peace of mind and an additional layer of security in their lives. We reached out to Risa Fischman, a Speech-Language Pathologist and avid runner, to share a little about herself and her experience using POM Safe.
POM: Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you do? I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist who works primarily with the preschool age and some early intervention. I live in Manhattan and am an avid runner, reader, and overall active person.
POM: What does personal safety mean to you? Personal safety means taking preventative action to stay safe. That means being aware of my surroundings as well as being prepared with a plan of action in case of an emergency.
POM: Why did you decide to purchase a POM? My dad actually was a part of the early stages and first few years of sales starting in May 2015. As soon as I heard about it, I wanted it for my early morning runs. Once it went beyond college campuses this August, I immediately bought it to help me feel safe during my runs.
POM: How does carrying the POM make you feel? I feel safe knowing I have it just in case.
POM: When do you typically carry the POM? I carry the POM on my early morning runs. I also work in an area that is not so great, so I always have the POM in my pocket during my walk from the subway to the school.
POM: What is your favorite feature to use? Why? I feel very fortunate that I haven’t had to use the POM yet. I like that there is the possibility of the fake call. I also like when I test it and can see how well the GPS works.
POM: Where do you keep your POM? It’s on my keychain! On runs, I keep it in a key pocket on my waist and on my way to work it’s in my jacket pocket.
POM: How likely are you to recommend POM to a friend or family member? (1-10, 1 being least likely, 10 being highly likely) 10. I’ve recommended it to so many people.
POM: Who do you think should know about or use the POM? I’ve actually contacted some of my running emails that I subscribe to. I think every runner should have one as well as anyone who lives alone. I can’t think of a person who wouldn’t benefit from having one.
